The 24 Game® and First in Math® is an exciting, fun maths resource designed to develop the fundamentals required for maths success. Students from the age of 8 through to 16 will benefit and increase their ability to understand and use maths processes when they realise that the key is in understanding the patterns and relationships inherent in numbers, what is sometimes referred to as relational understanding.
The 24 Game® and First In Math® encourages an awareness of relationships in number by building a strong foundation that works towards developing an ability to complete any maths process and even an understanding of many aspects of science. Computer based and text based curriculums traditionally focus on learning through repetition. The continual completion of repetitive test style questions. What this encourages is strength in memory and an ability to choose the right formula to apply to a given maths task. The 24 Game® and First In Math® gives depth to a student's understanding of number and consequently mathematical operations through open-ended style learning where the focus is on the processing and not on the correct answer. This results in not only proficiency in maths but excellence - and not only in those students with good recall!
Inclusion
The reason it has been used by over 5 million children around the world is the fact it is fun! It is hands on and success is achieved through exploration rather than the correct answer. The game can be used as a warm up or interlude in maths lessons and it complements any topic and level of the maths curriculum with its extensive range of cards. The fact that every deck of cards has three levels of difficulty ensures inclusion of all students, catering to the needs of individual learners.
Versatile
The number of ways a deck can be used are endless. From individual challenges to small group or as a whole class activity... and best of all, it's a relatively inexpensive addition to any classroom or home.
Scientifically Proven
Evidence of the astounding results can be seen in a research study focusing on use of First in Maths®, the online version of the game. Improvement of up to 30% in maths proficiency was found by education industry giant WestEd who recently completed a science based research study in the National City School District in San Diego County. 24 Game®/First in Math® have used scientific research to evaluate results and not relied solely on carefully selected school comments.
